To your question, however, would I want my PC to plot differently from everyone else's? No, that would not work. Can this be done? Can these tables be modified in some fashion similar to the means available in the CTB/STB editor? What dgorsman seemed to imply is that it would be possible to edit the line weights from the other end, in the table(s) used by the Layer Manager and Properties palette. "Edit line weight" and "save as" to as many of these files as you want, creating each CTB or STB with it's own unique set of line weights. It would appear, correct me if I'm wrong, that you can edit the discrete set of line weights available in any CTB or STB file. I'm more interested in being able to fine tune the seemingly immutable line weights available in the several editing interfaces, the Layer Manager and Properties palette, for example. If you were able to change your table all drawings would plot differently on you PC than everyone else's, is that what you want?I'm not interested in making wider lines, per se. I used the PAGESETUP command at the AutoCAD command line or you can right-click on the Layout tab and select Page Setup Manager. In this case we want the color line work that will use the monochrome Plot Style to show as Monochrome in the Layout. I've never needed a larger lineweight, but if I did I'd use a polyline width instead. The only thing not shown is the plot style you may apply to the Layout. Editing the lineweights in the Plot Style tables, in my limited experimenting experience, doesn't seem to change the choices made available within the Layer Manager or Properties Palette. What is displayed in the various property boxes is a look-up value from another table which allows the user to replace an existing line weight with one of their own.Very interesting! Do you know how I could edit the lineweights, "replace an existing line weight with on of ", as you say, that appear in either the Layer Manager or the Properties palette? I suspect they use the same look-up table (stored with the drawing file, I hope?), separate from the one used by the Plot Styles that each Plot Style would contain it's own look-up table. Anything with a lineweight, such an entity or layer, can only be assigned one of those enumerated values.
